If you’re packing for travel to a colder climate right now (even though technically, it’s spring), this is de video for you! Come along with me as I pack for my trip to Toronto, using the 10×10 challenge. And if you don’t know what the 10×10 challenge is, tek a watch below…
Here’s what I mentioned in de video:
To avoid over packing for Toronto, I used the 10×10 challenge by Style Bee. It was orginally intended as a capsule wardrobe challenge, however after I watched a few YouTubers apply it to packing for a trip, I decided to give it a try!
Here are links to my me mades and purchased clothing items:
4 Tops
- Lilac upcycled Brooks Brothers sweater: look for a XL or larger men’s wool blend sweater, crop it and take in the sides to make it more fitted. Mine was a Brooks Brothers sweater of my hubby’s
- Multi print top: me made, from Mimi G’s fitted tee pattern in her Make it Yours book
- Grey/black top and grey top: me made from Closet Core’s Graphite Tee. Pattern is only available when you join their Crew Unlimited Plan (sorry!) I will say, the Crew is amazing and the patterns are fantastic.
2 Toppers
- Upcycled denim jacket: gifted to me from Old Navy. This one is a close match. I added gifted flowers from my auntie and the applique on the back is from Mood Fabrics. They don’t have this one anymore, but you might like this one.
- White bolero sweater from Versona: couldn’t find anything like this on their website.
3 Pairs of Shoes
- Tan Duo boots: surprisingly, I couldn’t find this style, but if you want the cowboy look, then this one is for you. All Duo boots come tailored to your calf measurement.
- Gold flats from Amazon; click here.
- Black booties from Portugal: I don’t remember the name of the retailer I bought these at during our “no kids trip” there a few years ago 🙁
2 Bottoms and 1 Dress
- Black jeans from Long Tall Sally; click here. Note: these come in long inseams from 32″ to 38″.
- Black A-line skirt from Ricki’s (over 20 years ago): hmmm, they don’t look like they make wool skirts anymore! This skirt is 100% wool, so look for that in an A-line style and you’ll be good to go!
- Sweater dress from Versona; click here. I couldn’t find a sweater dress but I found this one in a similar colour in corduroy.
So, I cheated a little bit! I took 13 items in total (not including my winter coat). And as you can see from the video, they worked perfectly together.
Using the 10×10 challenge really simplifed packing for me. It also simplified getting dressed each day. I knew everything would go together and that made it wasy to put outfits together. I will definitely do this again in future!
