Hi!  In case you didn’t know it, here’s the story of how I met my husband. We met at Trinidad Carnival (of all places)! However, 1 year before this fortuitous meeting, I broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years and was honest with myself. How did I go from break up to meeting the love of my life? I share 1 thing I did in this video – tek a watch!

1 thing that I did:

  • I couldn’t end off without diving deeper here.  As I mentioned in the video, one thing that I consciously did to prepare for welcoming love was to “clear the driveway”.
  • If you’ve never heard of “clearing the driveway”, allow me to explain.  I have heard Trinis say, “Old car does block yuh driveway.”  Loosely translated it basically means, you can’t have a new car if your old car is blocking your driveway.  And this can apply to anything new that you want in life.  However, in terms of relationships, an old, unresolved relationship is taking up space in your life and the new relationship cannot enter until the old one is resolved.
  • For me back in 2005, it meant I had to break ties completely with my ex, stop going back and forth and release him emotionally and physically.  I finally did that in February 2005.
  • There are a number of other actions that I took to prepare myself for love – some fun and some not so fun – but all of it culminated in a emotionally better me and meeting my hubby 1 year later.
